E10 fuel OK for used imports

7 Aug 2007

In a media release from the Independent Motor Vehicle Dealers Association, Malcolm Yorston, Membership Services Manager, welcomes the introduction of E10 ethanol blend premium grade petrol to New Zealand motorists.

Based on Brazil’s experience in introducing ethanol-mix fuels to their existing fleet, the IMVDA does not believe there will be adverse effects for New Zealand motorists with imported used vehicles.

In general, E10 blend petrol will be compatible for use in imported used vehicles, although some maintenance items such as fuel filters and lines may need replacement.

The August 2007 issue of MPD Motor Parts Data will publish an industry guide to E10 bioethanol-blended petrol.
